Letamorphosis

Monday January 12, 2009
How about a fun little word game? It's called 'Letamorphosis' (metamorphosis). Get it? Okay. The idea is to solve the first clue. Then change one or two letters in the solution to arrive at the solution for the second clue. Unchanged letters remain in the same order.

Here's a quick example. (change one letter)
Vocal group: CHOIR
Barbershop item: CHAIR

Now try these.

1. (change one letter)
Turning point: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Burden: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

2. (change two letters)
Hanks/Long movie, with 'The': _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Pooh's undoing, often: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

3. (change two letters)
Urban transport: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Central processing unit (CPU): _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Can you come up with your own examples of 'Letamorphosis'? Happy puzzling!

Seems like a fun game to use in the classroom. I teach high school English and like to play word games sometimes to show the students that words can be a good time!! Thanks.
