Crossword Puzzles Sell Newspapers
"With two puzzles in the (newspaper), we believed we could drop our crossword puzzle without too much disruption in our readers' lives," editor Kent Marts said. "We were wrong." Thus, beginning today, the crossword puzzle is back in the paper. "While we received some calls and letters about... other items, they were secondary to the calls for the crossword puzzle" Marts said. "I asked many callers this question: 'If you could have one thing back, what would it be?' The answer, almost universally, was 'the crossword puzzle'."

Admit it now. You've bought your local newspaper solely for the crossword puzzle. You've bought the weekend paper just so you could enjoy that big, fat Sunday puzzle with your morning coffee.
