NYTimes Relaunches Crossword Puzzles
Multi-Player & 'Beat the Clock' Features
The New York Times has announced three new features on its Premium Crossword Puzzles that enable members to play collaboratively or competitively, solo or in groups. The new features, 'Play Against the Clock', 'Play With a Friend' and 'Challenge Matches', are available to Premium Crossword Puzzle subscribers for an annual subscription fee of $34.95 or a monthly fee of $5.95.
"Everyone from Times crosswords enthusiasts to experts will enjoy these easy-to-use interactive games," said Will Shortz, crossword puzzle editor for The New York Times. "Now Times readers can invite fellow crossword aficionados to collaborate or compete in solving the same puzzle at the same time."
What Do You Think?
| The New York Times provides great crossword puzzles from North America's premier crossword puzzle creators. While we're not saying the puzzles should be free, the $35 subscription fee is considerable and when one sonsiders the investment necessary just to access the Web (computer, telephone/cable, connection fees), it's beyond the reach of many. Also, many people have no access to the Times' fine puzzles other than via the Internet. Bear in mind, it costs the Times big bucks to maintain its Web site and, like any business, needs to realize a return on its investment. However, perhaps a lower fee would mean a larger subscription base and, therefore, more revenue. What do you think? Should the Times adjust its subscription fee? Respond now to our survey. |
