Quassword Greeting Cards

Brian Quass founded Quassword Cards company three years ago. Experimenting with different sorts of cards, he test-marketed various titles at numerous trade shows, including the New York Stationery Show, the Boston Gift Show, and the Atlanta Merchandise Mart.

Though it's Brian's ambition to work full-time with Quassword Cards, he hasn't quit his day job and continues to work as a closed-caption editor at the National Captioning Institute in Vienna, Virginia. He's been there for seven years and enjoys the variety: everything from "Showgirls" to "Sesame Street". His favorite assignment during the past year was a home video version of "Mothra Versus Godzilla".

Brian has been creating crosswords for over 20 years now and has submitted puzzles to local papers, particularly the Yorktown Crier in Yorktown, Virginia, where he was a member of the original 1976 staff. He has also done weekly crosswords for Christopher Newport College and during an 8-year stint as a banker, he did several puzzles for the bank's newsletter.

I spent a very enjoyable time reviewing the puzzles that appear on Quassword Cards. Included here is one of my favorites. My only complaint is that all the cards that I received for evaluation were of the "Get Well" variety. I think they would also make great "Bon Voyage" cards and even non-specific, 'just-to-say-Hi' cards. When I suggested this to Brian, he replied that they hope to offer kids' cards and birthday cards soon and expect to implement, via the Internet, automatic online sales next year. Best of luck and I wish them much success!
