Corn Mazes

Find A Maze In Your Area

Family-friendly activity

The Labyrinth and all its legends are among the most ancient known. It occurs around the world among diverse cultures and in many different periods in history. The symbol and the traditions associated with it remain remarkably constant. Prior to, and ever since, the Minoan temple at Knossos, people down through the ages have been fascinated with the labyrinth and this attraction has traveled around the world. In most cultures there was a spiritual aspect to the maze and it was deeply important in many rituals incorporating dance and ceremony.

Today, mazes are increasingly popular in the Western world even if the spiritual dimension is given short shrift in 'modern civilization'. For Europeans and North Americans, mazes are an entertaining diversion which appeals to family members of all ages. There is also an educational benefit for young developing minds in negotiating and, ultimately, mastering a maze. The student can learn map-reading, orientation, problem-solving, logic, as well as teamwork in a group environment.

Whatever your motivation, now is the time to get out and enjoy a maze in your area. Thanks to the abundance of cornfields across Europe and North America, there are corn mazes within reach of most people looking for a day's fun with the whole family. And many of today's commercial corn maze builders also feature other attractions such as hay rides, petting zoos, farmer's markets, pumpkin carving and live music.
