Definition: A disentanglement puzzle is a manipulative puzzle in which the challenge is to remove one or more pieces. There are several types of disentanglement puzzles, including plate-and-ring puzzles, rattler puzzles, wire puzzles and wire-and-string puzzles. Some disentanglement puzzles may contain more than one of these elements. Often, re-entanglement of the puzzle can be just as, if not more, challenging than disentanglement.
